Glencairn House

Overlooking the MCI campus, the house was built in 1916 by Charles A. Stevens. The craftsman-style bungalow was the home and general dental practice of Dr. Bill Cunningham for 35 years. Bill’s great-grandfather ran the house as a “tourist home” (what we would now call a Bed & Breakfast) named the Sunset Lodge. Beginning in the summer of 1942, in the early days of World War 2, it was rented by MCI to house female boarding students displaced from MCI’s Weymouth Hall by Navy pilots living there who were being trained at the Pittsfield airport. Located at the corner of Main Street and Peltoma Avenue.
